food that empowers
Piaz is a small all-women team of immigrants and children of immigrants committed to elevating voices of female refugee and immigrant chefs in San Diego, CA, and Washington, DC areas. We want to put a spotlight on underrepresented cuisines and build cultural bridges one bite at a time.
From Turkish to Hindi, word “piaz” means an onion. Onion is a humble root vegetable full of complex flavors. Just like stories of our chefs, layers of onion can be sweet, sharp, refreshing, and even make you tear. At Piaz, we empower refugee and immigrant to tell their own stories, one bite at a time.
Piaz is pronounced with the accent on “a”.
